Provide law enforcement to the City of Creston. Primary duties include but are not limited to: patrol, crime prevention, investigations, enforcing traffic laws, accident investigation and other duties as assigned.

Application deadline: 3:00PM on Wednesday June 30, 2010. Applications may be picked up at the Union County LEC, 302 North Pine Street, Creston, Iowa 50801; or call 641-782-8402 to have application mailed. Testing (written) will be conducted July 10, 2010 at 9:00AM at the Creston city hall. Those passing the written exam will go on to the physical agility testing.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must pass physical agility test as prescribed by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (Iowa certified officers may be exempt from agility test). Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Iowa Driver's license. Must pass POST test (all applicants). Must pass background check prior to hiring. Must be able to complete the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.
