Campus Police Officers patrol college campuses, as well as some school districts, across the country. Depending on the region and the school, many of these officers may be full sworn officers, however you should be aware that there are a large number which are patrolled by non-sworn officers.
The primary responsibility of the campus police officer is to protect and insure the safety of the students and prevent crime. Many departments offer programs that deal with alcohol awareness, personal safety, date rape, sexual assault and various other important topics
Campus policing is relatively patrol-intensive (vehicular, foot, bike) and there is generally a high focus on Police and community relations. Incidences generally consist of drunken and disorderly conduct, rape, harassment and theft.
